GTC series CNC vertical lathes are large machine tools based on Japanese technology, with either moving or fixed cross-rail. In order to keep the transfer of technology for these CNC lathes as efficient as possible, specialists from Japan are invited by SMTCL to provide detailed training. The CNC system, the main electrical components, main bearings, ball screws, and hydraulic components are all purchased from name-brand manufacturers to ensure reliability and accuracy. This series of CNC vertical lathe features superior machining accuracy, rigidity of construction, practical layout, ease of operation, and a high degree of automation, all of which are due to the sophisticated design technology, quality components, advanced manufacturing methods and accurate metrology, thus providing superior accuracy with heavy cutting capability. Our vertical lathe can realize unattended turning, thanks to part measuring and tool measuring devices which are incorporated into the machine in order to improve machining quality and reduce operating costs. Hence, this CNC vertical lathe is ideally suited to the turning of large disc-type parts such as wheels, motor bodies, flanges and motor seats, and large sized pump bodies.
Primary Parts of CNC Vertical Lathe
The square cross-section ram moves in X and Z axes on the cross-rail, balanced hydraulically with symmetrically-arranged cylinders on either side of the ram.
Our CNC vertical lathe has both single-column and double-column configurations, depending upon the size of the machine. Columns are designed symmetrically, with circular reinforcing ribs to ensure rigidity and strength.
The clamping of tool-holders is effected with a hydraulic cylinder located on the upper part of the ram, which moves a draw-bar that secures the holder in place. The tool-holder is clamped with Belleville spring-washers and held in position radially by curvic coupling.
The cross-rail is designed with sufficient height, thickness and configuration to increase its rigidity and prevent deflection by the ram during the heaviest cutting forces that can be experienced.
The worktable is driven by AC servo motor via vee-belts and gearbox for constant surface speed cutting.
These vertical lathes are available with optional controls from SIEMENS SINUMERIK or FANUC, for optimum reliability, ease of use, and accuracy.
CNC vertical lathes come standard with manual 4-jaw chuck
The base is designed to be bilaterally symmetrical, ribbed both concentrically and radially, with additional triangular ribbing for maximum rigidity.
